We all have faced some or the other forms of tooth ache in our lives and there are many times, when the tooth ache takes a severe form and we are not able to get the right medicine to curb the pain. There are many dental procedures with the dentists that are now available like teeth whitening, dental implants and other options but you really don’t have the right procedure that will ease the pain you experience at time in the tooth. A pain doesn’t always necessarily mean that there is something wrong with your teeth but it is always a better idea to go to the dentist and get the pain checked on immediate basis. If you have got the teeth whitening or any other form of dental procedure done in the recent past, then they might be a cause of the pain as many patients report an acute pain after such procedures. In this article, we are going to show you some of the home tips that will help you to ease off the pain that you have in the tooth.

1. Garlic

It is possibly the most used thing to curb down the pain in the teeth. There are couple of ways in which you can use the garlic like mixing it with clove oil and applying to the affected area. You can also apply the garlic directly to the affected tooth and gum where you are having the pain.

2. Onion

This might sound new to some, but the onion is also one of the affective ways to ease of a pain in the tooth. Onions have antimicrobial that is an agent that inhibits the growth of microorganisms and/or kills them. If you are experiencing pain in the gums or teeth, then you could chew raw onion from the side of the mouth where you are having the pain.

3. Vanilla extract

This can also be used to numb the area down where you are experiencing the pain and this is going to give you a lasting effect. It’s important that you do not use too much of it as it could have an adverse affect on your tooth or gums. Ensure that you are using just 2-3 drops at the affected area and this will be able to give you the needed relief. You will want to repeat this process multiple times per day if the pain persists.

Thought these might be the most used procedures when it comes to ease off the pain in the mouth or teeth, but it is always recommended that you contact the expert dental clinic in your area when you experience the pain in teeth or gums. Many times the pain can be the indication of some problem and the dentist might be able to give you the exact cause behind it. Always make sure that you are visiting your dentist once in every six months.

Teeth whitening techniques are becoming very popular all across the globe. But, not everybody knows about the available options, thus only 15% of teeth whitening candidates, consider the various options available to them. This is due to misinformation and ignorance. There are teeth whitening options available for all budgets and for all patients, to give you whiter and brighter teeth than before.

Types of teeth discoloration:

There are two types of teeth discoloration: extrinsic and intrinsic. As name suggests, extrinsic teeth discoloration is caused by external factors like aging, drinking and smoking. The discoloration or dirt is on the teeth enamel, meaning the original teeth are fine, and merely by removing the dirt, the teeth will be back to normal. Mild extrinsic stains can be easily removed by simple dental processes like brushing your teeth or prophylactic dental cleaning. However, if the stains are tough, you may need other more powerful treatments like teeth bleaching. If not treated on time, these stains can get deep-routed into your teeth and thus creating a permanent stain.

Intrinsic stains on the other hand, are the stains that happen from within your teeth. Some of the reasons include: exposure to tetracycline and other minerals during the formation of teeth. If your diet is rich in fluoride then also you can have discolored teeth.

Key causes of teeth discoloration:

There are different causes of teeth discoloration; here we are listing a few of them.

Age: As one age, their teeth start becoming discolored due to the wear and tear and regular food stains. This is natural due to aging. But, dentists recommend that with proper oral hygiene one can maintain color of teeth for longer.

Genetic characteristics of teeth: Teeth discoloration can also happen due to genetics and become deeper with age. Like thin translucent teeth easily get discolored.

Eating, smoking and drinking habits: There are a number of foods that affect the color of your teeth, when taken in excessive amounts. Some of these food items include: coffee, carrots, red wine and other strong beverages and foods. Fruits that are high on citric acid contents also cause discoloration. Smoking is one more reason for teeth discoloration.

Teeth whitening solutions:

There are several tooth whitening solutions available for discolored teeth. The whitening technique used depends on the extent of the stains. Some of the teeth whitening techniques include:

Peroxide gel: The gel is usually applied by an experienced dentist. The gel is applied three times in every 20 minutes and during the process; the gums must be protected by a rubber dam. In case of stubborn stains, the process must be repeated a few times.

Take home whitening kits: These kits are simple to use and give great results on consistent usage. The kit has peroxide gel, but in a more diluted form. It is applied with the help of customized bleaching trays, same as a sportsman mouth guard. The tray remains on your teeth for almost one hour.

Over the counter bleaching: These are the cheapest treatment for teeth whitening. The teeth whitening kits are easily available over the counter at number of pharmacies. As compared to other techniques, it is much slower. It is recommended only for people with light extrinsic stains.
